Hi Ahmik,

I received my “outside” Rogue bars today, along with the Hi-Temp Bumpers.

I wanted to shoot you off a quick email that, hopefully, you will find interesting.

The Rogue Bars are perfectly fine bars for their intended use – general purpose strength training. The knurl is nice and the spin is decent enough. All in all, a solid CrossFit working bar. Certainly a good price/performer at just under $250…

However, when comparing the fit and finish and workmanship and “quality feel” of the Rogue Bar to the B&R Bar, I just don’t think there is a comparison. The B&R Bar just feels like a much higher-quality bar, especially since the “list price” of both is in the same neighborhood of $300.

In today’s workout, I intentionally used both the new Rogue Bar and the B&R Bar to get a direct comparison. I would do a lift with one bar and then switch to the other bar. It was surprising how much better I liked the B&R Bar, at least for powerlifting-style movements. The B&R Bar is a bit hard for Olympic lifting movements, but the spin is so nice that it pretty much makes up for the lack of flex.

The B&R Bar’s knurling is more subtle than the Rogue bar’s but, during the workout as I sweated, the B&R Bar just felt better. If anything, the grip gets BETTER as you sweat.

The steel is really “hard” feeling; I have no problem believing that it is 200,000+ psi steel. It feels as strong and as solid as the Eleiko bar.

I guess, overall, I just wanted to congratulate you on an excellent bar. Now that, hopefully, York has its packaging improved, you ought to be selling these bars into every high-quality “home” or even commercial gym out there.

I never realized it before, but since I work out only at home and only with the very best equipment (Werksan and Eleiko), I didn’t have a good comprehension of what most $200-$300 bars really feel like. I hated the Samson bars (made by the same manufacturer that made the old Pendlay bars and still makes the Rogue bars) and I replaced them with the B&R bars. Now that I have the Rogue bars, I am finally zeroed in on price/performance…

The B&R Bars are almost as good as the Eleiko powerlifting bar, which is AT LEAST 3x as expensive. The fit and finish (and packaging) on the Eleiko bar is better, as is the spin, but not by a huge margin. The B&R Bar is simply much better than a $300 bar and is an absolute price/performance bargain…

Just my initial thoughts…

All the best,
Brittf
